PaidGirlz Pages - Looking Back At The Promises I Made To Myself

Looking Back at the Promises I Made to Myself

Today I spent some time reading through the goals I wrote down at the beginning of the year.

Not just my goals for this year.

My goals for one year.

Three years.

Five years.

Even ten years.

Reading those pages felt like having a conversation with a younger version of myself. Some of the goals still excite me. Some have changed. Some no longer fit who I am becoming. But one thing stood out above everything else:

I still want freedom.

Freedom to travel.

Freedom to work on things that matter.

Freedom to spend time with people I love.

Freedom to wake up and enjoy the life God gave me instead of constantly feeling like I’m racing through it.

As I looked over those goals, I had to ask myself a hard question:

Am I still aligned with the life I said I wanted?

It’s easy to get distracted.

Bills happen.

Life happens.

Unexpected situations happen.

Sometimes we get so caught up surviving that we stop intentionally building.

That’s why I think it’s important to revisit our goals regularly—not because everything must happen on our timeline, but because we need reminders of who we are becoming.

At the same time, I’ve learned something else.

No matter how carefully I plan, God always has the final say.

One of my favorite reminders comes from Scripture:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
— Isaiah 55:8 (NIV)

That verse humbles me every time I read it.

Because there have been moments in my life when I thought I knew exactly how things were supposed to happen.

Then life took a completely different path.

And somehow, looking back, God’s plan was better than the one I had written down.

Thinking About Love, Loss, and Health

Recently, I found myself reflecting on the loss of an ex.

Not just the relationship itself.

But the reality that as we get older, we begin to understand which relationships genuinely produced love in our lives.

Time has a way of revealing things.

It reveals who showed up.

Who cared.

Who wished us well.

Who helped shape us into the people we are today.

Life has a way of moving quickly, and before we know it, people become memories.

My condolences go out to anyone grieving someone they once loved.

Whether it was a spouse, a parent, a friend, a partner, or someone whose chapter in your life has ended.

Loss reminds us of something we often forget:

Our health matters.

The older I get, the more I realize that taking care of myself isn’t vanity.

It’s stewardship.

It’s honoring the life I’ve been given.

It’s making sure I have the energy to pursue my dreams, explore the world, and be present for the people who love me.

Life Is Short

Life is short.

Much shorter than we realize.

If you’ve been dreaming about seeing the world, start planning.

If you’ve been talking about taking the trip, start saving.

If you’ve been saying “one day,” maybe today is the day to begin.

Travel doesn’t always require a passport.

Sometimes it starts with a weekend road trip.

A train ride.

A flight to a city you’ve never explored.

A sunrise somewhere you’ve never been.

Speaking of sunrises…

🌅 Watch: Sunrise Over Virginia Beach

One of my favorite reminders that every day is a fresh start is watching the sunrise over the ocean.

Take a few minutes today to slow down and enjoy it.

A New Mindset

The truth is, travel isn’t just about going somewhere.

It’s about becoming someone.

It’s about expanding your perspective.

It’s about collecting experiences instead of excuses.

It’s about realizing how big the world is—and how much of it is waiting for you.

Final Thought

When people remember us, they won’t remember our stress.

They won’t remember the emails.

They won’t remember the endless to-do lists.

They’ll remember how we made them feel.

They’ll remember the laughter.

The conversations.

The kindness.

The adventures.

The memories.

Take care of your health.

Love your people well.

Make sure your children are straight.

Trust God with the details.

And while you still have time…

Go see something beautiful.

The world is waiting.
